Chaos and Delays at Land Registry: Cases from… 1973, €18.5m Uncollected and Procedures on Hold

A report by the Audit Office reveals serious weaknesses in the management of the Department of Lands and Surveys. The report states that uncollected revenues amount to €18.5 million, with 74% relating to state land leases. In addition, thousands of pending issues have been identified in leases, sales and surveying works, with delays in some cases exceeding 50 years. The report also highlights ignorance regarding illegal interventions on state land and cases pending since 1973.
