Ch. Pipis on Foot and Mouth Disease: Cases in 6 Units – 5,000 Animals Infected

The Director of Veterinary Services, Christodoulos Pipis, provided an update on the cases of foot and mouth disease in Cyprus. So far, cases have been identified in six units, which are however considered as a single epidemiological entity due to their interconnection. A total of approximately 5,000 animals have been infected. The Service is investigating the origin of the virus, examining information about illegal movements of animals or animal products from the occupied territories. In particular, the movement of animal feed products, such as hay, from the occupied territories is being investigated.
