Police Seek Eight Suspects in Connection with Larnaca Clashes

Published January 19, 2026, 14:26

Larnaca police are seeking eight individuals – five Palestinians and three Jordanians – to assist in investigations related to the violent clashes that occurred in the city center on Saturday. The clashes involved gunfire and the use of weapons, leading to charges of conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, extortion, aggravated assault, and other criminal offenses. Authorities believe the clashes are linked to a protection racket that was extorting a car rental businessman. The businessman received threats and a visit from members of the racket, resulting in a chase and injuries to the racket's leader. Police have made arrests and are investigating the incident, while facing criticism for crime in the area. They have appealed to the public for any information that may help locate the wanted individuals.
