Fytiris: Visited the migrant detention centers under construction

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, inspected the progress of the work at the Pre-Departure Center for the Detention of Migrants in Limnes, as well as at the existing facilities of the Migrant Detention Center in Menogias. During his visit, he was informed by responsible officials about the project completion schedule. With the completion of the new Center in Limnes, detainees from Menogias will be transferred to the new, modern facilities. At the same time, the facilities in Menogias are planned to be used to create a detention space for minors, with specially designed infrastructure. The Minister of Justice is also examining alternative ways to utilize the facilities, as part of a broader effort to strengthen prison infrastructure and decongest the Central Prisons. Upgrading the infrastructure of the prison system is a top priority for the government. The goal is a modern, functional, and efficient system that serves security, legality, and respect for rights.
