Phytiris on Annie: She Has Three Options

Published February 13, 2026, 17:28

Minister of Justice Kostas Phytiris stated that Ioanna Fotiou (Annie Alexoui) has three options to submit a statement and evidence to the Cypriot authorities: to travel to Cyprus, to testify abroad, or to send the evidence through her lawyer. The goal is to advance the investigation and prevent the case from becoming a “serial”. Mr. Phytiris emphasized that the initiative rests with Fotiou herself. Testifying in Cyprus is unlikely due to outstanding warrants and her fears for her safety. Testifying abroad is possible by sending a team, after arrangement by the Legal Service and the Police. The third option is to send a written complaint and evidence through her lawyer, which will be delivered to the authorities for investigation. The Minister of Justice will receive the evidence transparently and keep copies for the lawyer. Mr. Phytiris clarified that he will not take a statement, but a complaint and evidence, which will be forwarded to the competent authorities. He also stated that he receives complaints and forwards them to the prosecution authorities, while the authenticity of the evidence to be delivered through a lawyer will be investigated.
