Onisiforou Instructs Departments to Cooperate with Authorities in Faidonou Case

The Deputy Mayor and Municipal Governor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, has given clear instructions to the heads of the Municipality's Departments to respond to any request from the Audit Office for documents or information related to the cases being investigated concerning suspended Mayor Faidon Faidonou. This instruction is an obligation of the employees, as emphasized by the Municipality’s Spokesman Christos Christou. Mr. Christou stated that instructions have been given to facilitate the work of the authorities, such as officials from the Audit Office or the Police, who will visit the Municipality. Although there has been no visit from Audit Office officials so far, it is expected that a team will be sent soon to investigate information that has been made public. At the plenary session of the Paphos Municipal Council, which took place under the presidency of Mr. Onisiforou, the resignation of council member Kostas Diplaros was discussed, who cites disagreements with an article of the Municipal Law. Mr. Diplaros' resignation is certain and will be replaced by Ioakim Agathangelou. In addition, the replacement of the positions of the suspended Mayor on various committees was discussed. Mr. Onisiforou will replace Mr. Faidonou on most committees, while for the committees of the Sewage Council (EOA) and the Landfill Management Unit (XYTA), advice will be sought from the Ministry of Interior.
