Thanasis Case: Matsas Alleges Threats Against His Life

The judicial process regarding the private criminal prosecutions of Thanasis Nikolaou's family continued with the examination of preliminary objections. Lawyer Savvas Matsas, who withdrew from the family's defense to testify as a witness, revealed that he withdrew for a second reason, which concerned threats against his life. The defense challenged the validity of the threats, arguing that Mr. Matsas had complained about a post on the internet from a relative of the defendant and requested the relevant document from the Police. The defense accused Mr. Matsas of attempting to deceive the court and requested an investigation into the possibility of a violation. The new lawyer for the Nikolaou family, Christos Kliridis, argued that the defendants should first be charged and respond before the preliminary objections are considered. The court decided to continue the process and set a new date for March 19th.
