Investigation Expands to Include 'Complainants' in Video Case – Lakkotrypis, Charalambous, and Chrysos Under Scrutiny

The criminal investigation into the video alleging corruption within the Presidential Palace has been expanded to include not only the creators of the video but also the individuals featured in it – former Minister George Lakkotrypis, former Director of the President's Office Charalambos Charalambous, and Cyfield CEO George Chrysos. The investigation is being conducted by independent criminal investigator Andreas Paschalidis, following a directive from the Legal Service, which seeks to investigate any criminal offense related to the video. The inquiry will examine the video's authenticity, the creators' motives, and potential violations of lobbying legislation, as well as the obligation to declare contacts with Stratix Wealth. Mr. Lakkotrypis initially filed a complaint regarding the illegal recording and alteration of his statements, followed by testimonies from Messrs. Charalambous and Chrysos. Previously, the Police had avoided clarifying whether the video's protagonists would be substantially investigated, but the situation is now clearer. The investigation focuses on two main areas: the malicious actions of the video creators, for which requests for judicial assistance are expected from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and the conduct of the involved individuals, with emphasis on compliance with lobbying laws. Legal circles highlight the importance of transparency in contacts with companies like Stratix Wealth, suggesting the use of institutional channels such as CIPA and the BFU of the Ministry of Energy. The case has generated significant political interest and is expected to continue at a rapid pace, as the Legal Service has provided clear instructions for a thorough and impartial investigation.
