Health Minister Stands Firm on Ambulance Authority Bill

The Minister of Health, Neophytos Charalambides, stated that the government will not back down from discussing the bill for the National Ambulance Authority, despite a request for an extension from the Cyprus Public Health Services Organization (OKYPY). OKYPY requested an additional three weeks to submit its own plan, but the Ministry of Health insists on discussing the bill in the House Health Committee. This bill aims to provide a definitive solution to the structure and supervision of the Ambulance Service, which was transferred to OKYPY after the implementation of the GESY in 2019. The creation of an independent ambulance authority has been the Ministry of Health's goal since then, and the current bill is an attempt to achieve this goal.
