The Informal Council of EU Ministers of Education, Sports and Youth will be held this week in Nicosia, with teachers as the central focus. Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, stated that discussions will focus on supporting, empowering, and evaluating teachers, as well as other important issues such as Erasmus, Vocational Education, Higher Education, and the use of artificial intelligence. The Minister emphasized that Cyprus's priorities align with those of Europe, and that Cyprus will have the opportunity to showcase good practices in areas such as vocational education and teacher evaluation. The two-day program includes plenary discussions, statements from all Ministers or their representatives from the 27 countries, small group discussions, and a cultural event featuring students from music schools. The Minister mentioned that Cyprus will present its efforts to internationalize higher education and share its proposals for the evaluation and continuous professional development of teachers. The aim is to exchange views and find common solutions to address the challenges facing education in Europe.
