Education Minister: Skills, Special Education, and Social Workers as Priorities for 2026

The Minister of Education, Athena Michailidou, emphasized the need for a transformation of education, focusing on skills and moving away from rote learning. The Ministry's priorities for 2026 include completing the list of eligible teachers for appointment, reforming special education towards a more inclusive model, strengthening students' skills, and establishing Social Work Services in pilot schools. The goal is to improve the mental resilience of students and teachers, as well as to address violence and delinquency in schools. Protocols and recommendations for addressing delinquency have already been collected and will be distributed to schools.
