Cyprus' Interior Minister to Meet Italian Counterparts in Rome

The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, will travel to Rome for meetings with his Italian counterparts, Matteo Salvini and Nello Musumeci, within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport will focus on addressing the housing problem at national and European levels, based on the European Affordable Housing Plan. Mr. Ioannou will present the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency and promote dialogue for the exchange of best practices. Furthermore, the meeting with the Minister of Civil Protection and Maritime Policy will examine progress in discussions on the EU civil protection mechanism, aiming to ensure cooperation and coordination between member states and EU bodies. The Cypriot Presidency seeks to define clear responsibilities for each party within this mechanism. The Minister of Interior will inform his Italian counterpart about Cyprus' efforts to promote dialogue and exchange best practices, aiming to design targeted policies to mitigate the housing problem in member states. Cyprus aims to play an active role in addressing the challenges related to access to affordable housing. Overall, the Minister of Interior's visit to Rome is part of the efforts of the Cypriot Presidency to promote its priorities in the areas of housing and civil protection, strengthening cooperation and coordination between EU member states.
