Turkish Defense Ministry: No Plans to Deploy S-400 to Somalia

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has denied reports and social media posts regarding plans to deploy S-400 air defense systems to Somalia. The Ministry assured that the S-400s are in a state of operational readiness in Turkey and that there is no intention to deploy them outside of Turkish borders. Regarding Somalia, the Ministry of Defense emphasized that cooperation between the two countries continues based on existing agreements, with the aim of supporting the organization of the Somali Armed Forces, combating terrorism, and protecting Somalia's economic resources, as well as Turkish interests. In addition, the Ministry referred to the crash of an F-16 fighter jet on February 25, stating that the cause of the accident will be clarified after the completion of the investigation by the competent committee. Condolences were expressed to the family and the Turkish Armed Forces for the death of the pilot, Squadron Leader Ibrahim Bolat.
