Ministry of Health: Await Police Final Report on the Death of a 42-Year-Old Woman

The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambides, called for waiting for the final report of the Police regarding the death of the 42-year-old woman, who died two weeks after a hysterectomy at the General Hospital of Larnaca. An administrative investigation has already been ordered by the OKYPY and the case is also being investigated criminally following a complaint from the family. The minister stated that an investigation has been ordered by the Ministry of Health and that the initiation of an investigation by the OKYPY with the appointment of investigating officials has been confirmed. He stressed the need to await the outcome of the police investigation. The 42-year-old woman died in a comatose state two weeks after the hysterectomy she underwent on January 16th. Her family is demanding a full investigation into the case and has filed a complaint with the Police. The significant public response to vaccination was highlighted, with free special immunization for infants through the GHS pediatricians and a vaccine available for adults. It was also reported the possibility of a second wave of seasonal infections in March, which is estimated to be milder.
