Çelik: F-16 Deployment in Cyprus for Security Purposes Only

AKP Deputy Chairman Ömer Çelik defended the deployment of F-16 fighter jets to the occupied territories, stating that it aims solely at the security of the region and does not target anyone. He accused the Republic of Cyprus for its relations with Israel, calling them a "source of shame" and dismissing its policies as "spoiled and opportunistic". Çelik argued that Turkey is closely monitoring the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and that Cyprus is at the center of developments. Commenting on the war between Iran and the US, Çelik described it as "horrific" and expressed regret over the failure of diplomacy, claiming that Turkey could have successfully mediated if talks had taken place in Istanbul. He accused Israel of seeking to destabilize the region and described it as the greatest threat to regional and international order. Çelik assured that Turkey is prepared for potential threats and will take all necessary measures to protect itself. He referred to the incident with the missile aimed at Turkish airspace, emphasizing that it was shot down because it targeted it and that Turkey will not tolerate any attack against it. Finally, Çelik stressed that Turkey respects the will of the Iranian people and does not expect significant changes in Tehran's foreign policy. He emphasized the importance of Iran's territorial integrity and stated that Turkey opposes any attempt to undermine it. The government is focused on security, the economy, Turkish citizens abroad, and food security.
