Conviction Upheld in Triple Fatal Road Accident Case

The Limassol Permanent Criminal Court dismissed the appeal of a driver who had been convicted in the first instance of causing the death of three young men in a road accident in 2017. The driver had collided with another vehicle while driving at excessive speed and under the influence of cannabis and alcohol. The court rejected the grounds of appeal, finding that the original decision was correct. In addition, the Attorney General's appeal against the low monetary fine imposed for driving under the influence of alcohol was also dismissed, as the court found an error in the assessment of the amount of alcohol in the defendant's blood.
