A tragedy occurred in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana, where 40 people died and 119 were injured in a fire that broke out in a nightclub during New Year's Eve celebrations. Swiss authorities believe the fire started from fireworks placed on champagne bottles, which were too close to the ceiling. According to authorities, the fireworks ignited the ceiling and the fire spread rapidly. Video footage from the incident has been collected and interviews are being conducted with survivors and the two French managers of the venue. Lists of people who were in the bar have also been submitted. Of the 119 injured, 113 have been identified, while six remain unknown. The injured come from various countries, including Switzerland, France, Italy, Serbia, Bosnia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and Portugal. The burns suffered by many of the injured are severe and it may take days to identify the victims. The investigation will focus on the materials of the bar, operating licenses, safety measures and the number of attendees.
