Three-Hour Work Stoppage at EAC on Wednesday - Unions Warn of Escalation

Employees of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) announced a three-hour work stoppage on Wednesday, March 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., protesting the serious problems facing the electricity sector. The unions accuse the government of a lack of strategic planning and procrastination, pointing out that the EAC's efforts to solve the problems have not been met with a response. They express their disappointment with the government's “imaginative and unfounded proposals,” which, they say, increase rather than reduce the cost of electricity. The unions warn that if their positions are not heard, they will escalate the measures.
