A massive explosion occurred in the early hours of the morning at the 'Violanta' food production factory in Trikala, triggering a fire. At the time of the incident, 13 people were on the premises, and authorities are searching for 5 missing female workers. So far, the bodies of three women have been found in the factory's basement. Six workers and one firefighter were transported to the hospital with respiratory problems, but their condition is not critical. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard in surrounding villages and the city of Trikala. The Fire Department immediately mobilized with 40 firefighters and 13 vehicles, with the assistance of construction machinery and water tankers from local authorities. Efforts are focused on extinguishing the fire and safely entering the factory to locate the missing persons. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown. According to reports, there were no gas cylinders in the area. The Fire Crime Investigation Department from Lamia has been called in to investigate all possibilities. The factory owners are at the scene and are devastated. The Deputy Regional Governor of Trikala and the new Police Director of the area are also present.
