66-Year-Old Arrested for Selling Land He Didn't Own - Six Years Later

A 66-year-old man has been arrested in Limassol following a complaint of fraud, related to the sale of a plot of agricultural land that he did not own. The couple who reported him had agreed with the 66-year-old in 2020 to buy the plot for €32,000, but the transfer of ownership never took place. It was found that the 66-year-old was merely a tenant of the plot and not the owner. An arrest warrant was issued, and the suspect was arrested by the Limassol TAE. The 66-year-old was brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered his five-day detention for the purpose of investigating the case. Police continue their investigations to determine the full extent of the fraud and potential involvement of other individuals. This case highlights the importance of verifying property titles before completing any real estate transaction to avoid similar incidents.
