Turkey Secures $6.75 Billion for Intercontinental Railway Project

Turkey has secured $6.75 billion in funding from international financial institutions, including the World Bank, for the construction of the new Northern Ring Railway Line. The 125-kilometer line will connect Halkalı to Gebze, crossing the Bosphorus via the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. The project will help alleviate congestion for freight and passenger traffic and connect the city's two main airports. Turkey had previously held talks with the United Arab Emirates to finance the project but turned to the World Bank when no agreement was reached. A tender is expected to be announced and construction work to begin later this year.
