Tourism: Foundations Laid for Closer Cooperation with Serbia

The recent visit of the Cypriot delegation to Serbia, within the framework of the Belgrade Tourism Fair, yielded tangible results for strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries. An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism in the coming months, while interest in Nikola Tesla Airport was examined, which has evolved into a major hub and could benefit Cypriot tourism. The Serbian market recorded record arrivals in 2023, reaching 63,000, showing an increase of 57% compared to the previous year and a tripling in three years. 20 Cypriot tourism companies and organizations participated in the fair, with Cyprus being the guest of honor for the first time in the history of the exhibition. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, expressed his satisfaction with the contacts made and stressed the importance of maintaining the achievements of 2023 and increasing arrivals during the winter season. The Serbian government showed a strong willingness to closer cooperation in the field of tourism, as a continuation of the contacts between the Presidents of the two countries. The Cypriot side will continue to work to build stronger relations with Serbia, with the aim of increasing tourism and mutual benefit.
