Mexico Cartel Violence: Tourists Describe Scenes of Terror

Tourists in Mexico have described scenes of terror and panic during recent violent clashes between cartels and government forces. The violence erupted following the death of the leader of the "New Generation Jalisco" cartel, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho". Tourists reported seeing roadblocks, fires, and blown-up vehicles, with many forced to hide in hotels and restrict access to food and water. The resort town of Puerto Vallarta was particularly affected, with tourists describing a surreal situation. Mexican authorities report that more than 50 people have died in the clashes, including members of the security forces and alleged cartel members, as well as civilians. Even the Guadalajara airport was at the center of the chaos, with reports of gunfire and panic.
