Daylight Boosts Brainpower: Improves Attention and Reduces Drowsiness

A new study shows that increased exposure to daylight can improve cognitive function, increasing attention, reducing drowsiness, and speeding up reaction times by 7-10%. The study followed 58 adults for a week, recording their light exposure and cognitive performance. The results indicate that both recent and long-term light exposure enhances cognitive abilities, possibly through the activation of special cells in the retina that regulate the circadian rhythm, arousal, and mood. The study highlights the importance of adequate lighting, especially in environments such as night shifts.
