The Best-Selling Song for 2025 - Two Historic Firsts

The single «APT», a collaboration between Bruno Mars and K-pop star Rosé, has been named the world's best-selling song for 2025, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This success is accompanied by two historic 'firsts': it is the first time a No. 1 single has featured an artist from outside Europe or North America, and the first time the top song has not featured English lyrics. The 29-year-old Rosé, born Roseanne Park, is a member of the popular group Blackpink. For the 40-year-old Bruno Mars, the top of the charts is familiar territory, having reached the top spot in 2011 with the successful «Just The Way You Are». The second place in the global ranking is held by «Golden» by HUNTR/X, one of two songs that stood out from the Netflix animated production KPop Demon Hunters. The third place is occupied by «Ordinary» by Alex Warren, while the fourth is followed by «Die With A Smile», a collaboration between Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. The top five is completed by «Beautiful Things» by Benson Boone. Notably, all five top singles of 2024 maintained their momentum and remained on the chart in 2025, confirming the stability of major hits in the modern music industry. As IFPI CEO Victoria Oakley stated, this year's results reflect the international dimension of the music market, with songs that transcend linguistic and geographical boundaries. The success of «APT», she stressed, is a milestone precisely because it is the first time a global No. 1 is not based on English lyrics.
