Greece: Situation in Northern Cyprus Won't Affect Commitment to Protect Cyprus

Greece has assured that the deployment of Turkish F-16s in the occupied territories will not affect its decision to protect Cyprus. Greek government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stated that Greece has a duty to respond to any crisis and protect Cyprus, regardless of developments in the occupied territories. He also emphasized the importance of European solidarity in addressing the crisis. Mr. Marinakis stressed that the Prime Minister's visit to Cyprus is substantial and demonstrates Greece's immediate assistance. Greece does not want to be involved in the crisis, but will continue to protect its Cypriot brothers. In addition, the spokesman referred to the repatriation operations of Greek citizens from the Middle East, where 1,039 people have already returned to Greece using chartered aircraft and military means. The process is complex due to flight restrictions and alarms in war zones. Finally, it was announced that Greece is providing assistance to Bulgaria for ballistic protection, with the deployment of a PATRIOT battery and F-16s, without affecting its own ballistic coverage.
