NATO Establishes New Corps in Turkey

NATO is in the process of establishing a new multinational military formation in Turkey, called the Multinational Corps Turkey (MNC-TÜR). The information came from a report by the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet and was confirmed by Turkish authorities, who however clarified that it is a project in its early stages and independent of current regional tensions. MNC-TÜR is part of NATO's broader planning and aims to strengthen the Alliance's deterrent and defensive posture, as well as promote interoperability between national armies. The existence of the corps came to light through references on the LinkedIn platform by a Turkish NATO employee. The Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed the existence of the corps, emphasizing that it is still in the formation phase and that its implementation began last year. Officials assured that the project is not related to the recent crisis in Iran. The creation of MNC-TÜR is part of NATO's regional planning and is expected to contribute to strengthening the Alliance's military readiness in the region. This move comes at a time of increased geopolitical tension and uncertainty.
