Mexico Sends More Humanitarian Aid to Cuba

Mexico is sending more humanitarian aid to Cuba, with two naval vessels shipping a total of 1,193 tons of food, mainly milk and beans. This is the second aid shipment to Cuba, which is facing a severe economic and energy crisis. The first shipment, 814 tons, arrived in Havana on February 12th. This move comes during a period of increased pressure from the US on Cuba, with Havana accusing Donald Trump of seeking to 'strangle' the Cuban economy. Simultaneously, the Mexican government is negotiating the possibility of sending oil to Cuba, but faces the risk of tariffs being imposed by the US. Cuba is struggling to procure crude oil after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by the US. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has criticized US policy, characterizing it as a stranglehold on the Cuban people.
