Mexico Extradites 37 Alleged Gang Members to the US

The Mexican government announced it has handed over 37 individuals alleged to be members of criminal organizations to US authorities, as part of a larger wave of extraditions totaling 92 people since 2025. This move comes amid pressure from US President Donald Trump, who has frequently threatened “land invasions” against drug cartels. The Mexican government emphasizes that these extraditions are carried out legally and with respect for national sovereignty. Simultaneously, President Sheinbaum assured Trump that the presence of US troops in Mexico is not desired, while presenting positive results in the fight against organized crime, such as a reduction in homicides and drug seizures. The US Federal Aviation Administration issued warnings regarding flights in areas of Latin America where cartels operate.
