Even AI Agrees

The author expresses the view that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is merely an assistive tool and not a source of critical answers. However, due to his preoccupation with the need to create an independent supervisory authority for the Cypriot pension system and to strengthen the second and third pillars of the pension system, he decided to consult AI. AI agrees with the view that pension policy is a foundation of social cohesion and macroeconomic stability, and that the state has a role not only in managing contributions and benefits, but also as a guarantor of a decent living for pensioners. AI emphasizes the importance of the European three-pillar model (public pension, occupational schemes, individual savings) and highlights the state's role in ensuring a minimum level of protection, adapting the system to demographic and economic developments, and establishing a strict regulatory framework. Particular emphasis is placed on the need for an independent supervisory authority, especially for the second and third pillars, to ensure the solvency of funds, transparency and avoidance of conflicts of interest. Experience from other countries, such as the Netherlands and Denmark, shows that strong supervision contributes to the creation of stable pension organizations. In conclusion, AI supports the strengthening of the supervision of occupational schemes in Cyprus, with emphasis on independence, technical expertise and transparency, as well as the encouragement of individual savings.
