Odysseas Elytis's Pictorial Work

It is 30 years since the death of the great poet Odysseas Elytis, and on this occasion, the visual artist Dimitris Yeros refers to the poet's involvement with painting. Yeros emphasizes that painters perceive visual works differently from art critics, as the latter are often misled by superficial elements and ignore technique. He points out that the ability to distinguish good from bad is the main characteristic of a talented artist. Elytis, like other poets, felt the need to express himself through painting, either to say something he could not with words, or simply for fun. His involvement in this art began in childhood and was strengthened by his acquaintances with important French and Greek visual artists. He created collages and watercolors, expressing his artistic nature.
