ECHR Notifies Cyprus Government of Makarios Drousiotis' Complaint

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has notified the Cyprus Government of the complaint filed by journalist Makarios Drousiotis. The complaint concerns allegations of violations of Articles 8, 10, and 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights, relating to illegal surveillance through spyware. Mr. Drousiotis claims he was subjected to surveillance of his computers, mobile phones, cloud accounts, and home, with access to sensitive information and journalistic sources. The ECHR is requesting the Government to answer questions regarding the legality and necessity of the potential interference with the applicant's rights, as well as the existence of effective domestic remedies.
