Berlin Does Not Currently Plan to Send Military Support to Cyprus

The German government does not currently plan to send military support to Cyprus, but is closely monitoring developments and is in constant contact with the Cypriot government. Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius stated that Berlin shares the warnings of other European partners and urges all parties involved, especially Iran, not to extend the conflict to European territory. Despite the lack of immediate plans for military support, Mr. Kornelius mentioned that sufficient measures of regional assistance and coverage have been taken by NATO, but did not rule out a change in the situation in the future. The statement comes after reports of an attack by a drone in Cyprus.
