The Email of the Cypriot Byzantinist That Opened the Tsagarakis Case - The Gallery Owner with the Alleged Forged Paintings

A case of forged works of art is at the center of attention, starring gallery owner Giorgos Tsagarakis. The case began with an email sent to the authorities by a Cypriot Byzantinist, expressing doubts about the authenticity of a 16th-century Gospel presented in a video of the gallery. The Byzantinist stated in the email that the binding of the Gospel falls under archaeological legislation and requested an immediate investigation of the case. The Police had already received anonymous and named complaints from February 24th regarding the activity of the Tsagarakis house. Charikleia Mytara, widow of the painter Dimitris Mytaras, stated that she was aware of the presentation of forged works by her husband on Tsagarakis's shows, but had not taken an immediate position. She emphasized that the sale of forged works of art is a crime and that the state must intervene. Giorgos Tsagarakis denies the accusations, while the case is under investigation by the authorities. Victims of the gallery owner claim that they saw different things “on air” and were ultimately announced as a result of the sale.
