Tax Department: Deadlines for Annual and Monthly Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Returns

The Tax Department has announced the deadlines for submitting the Annual and Monthly Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Returns for the year 2024. The deadline for the Annual Return remains March 31, 2026. Only employers who withhold and pay Income Tax, contributions to the General Healthcare System (GHS), or employer contributions to the GHS are required to submit both types of returns. Payment of withholdings to the Tax Department requires prior submission of the monthly return through the Tax For All (TFA) system. The Department recommends including all employees in the monthly returns, even those with no withholdings, or alternatively, including them in the December return. Employers with employees receiving remuneration without withholdings are also required to submit at least one Monthly PAYE Return. Timely and accurate submission of returns is crucial to avoid penalties and ensure the smooth operation of the tax system. In summary, the Tax Department reminds employers of their obligations regarding PAYE returns, emphasizing the importance of timely submission and accurate record-keeping of employees and their remuneration.
