What We Take Away From the Crisis

Recent events have highlighted the need for composure and serious political handling, as Cyprus is not at the center of the conflicts as it appears. The Tehran regime is the main destabilizing factor in the region, while the importance of alliances and international support was highlighted in the case of Cyprus, with the immediate dispatch of Greek forces to strengthen the defense. The crisis confirmed that peace and security are not always guaranteed by diplomatic means, especially when facing authoritarian regimes. Strengthening factors of power and reliable deterrent power are crucial for safeguarding the interests of states. A European awakening and the creation of a Common Defense and Security Policy are imperative. The strong presence of Greek forces in the Eastern Mediterranean has geopolitical significance and highlights the role that Cyprus and Greece can play as stable pillars of the West. The crisis also underscored the need to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among democratic states.
