What is the Frog Poison Allegedly Used to Kill Navalny?

According to the United Kingdom and some European allies, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny allegedly died from the use of highly toxic epibatidine, a substance found in the poison of South American poison dart frogs. Traces of the toxin were found in samples from Navalny's body and are believed to have caused his death in a Siberian penal colony. The allies argue that only the Russian state had the means, motive and opportunity to use this deadly toxin. Epibatidine is a potent neurotoxin, 200 times stronger than morphine, that acts on nicotinic receptors in the nervous system, causing muscle spasms, paralysis, seizures and ultimately death by asphyxiation. This toxin is naturally found in poison dart frogs living in South America, but it can also be produced in a laboratory. Frogs in captivity do not produce this toxin, and it is not found naturally in Russia. The use of epibatidine is extremely rare due to its limited geographical distribution. The Kremlin rejected the findings, calling them an "information campaign." The discovery of the toxin in Navalny's blood suggests intentional administration, while its toxicity can be increased by the co-administration of other drugs.
