Tehran: US Position on Nuclear Issue Became “More Realistic”

The Iranian government announced today, on the eve of new talks with Washington, that the United States has softened its position on the nuclear issue. “Considering the discussions” held in Oman in early February, “we can cautiously conclude that the US position on the Iranian nuclear issue has become more realistic,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, according to the IRNA news agency. Iran continues to defend its right to nuclear energy for non-military purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), which it has signed.
