What Exactly is Forex?

Forex (Foreign Exchange) is a strictly regulated financial industry, distinct from illegal schemes. Forex companies are supervised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and other international authorities, and operate in accordance with strict rules and regulations, including European directives. It was emphasized that illegal activities, such as the fraud call centers dismantled by Europol, have nothing to do with forex. These activities are outside of supervision and the law. The incorrect use of the term “forex” to describe unregulated activities creates a distorted image of the industry. Forex companies in Cyprus do not choose the country due to lax supervision, but because Cyprus fully implements the European regulatory framework and conducts strict controls. These companies do not offer investment advice or guaranteed returns, but provide platforms for executing stock market orders. Finally, the strict supervision to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing was emphasized, with thorough checks on companies and customer transactions.
