Final Sentence for Doctor in 10-Year-Old Stavros' Case - Appeal Court Upholds 18-Month Suspended Sentence

The Appeal Court upheld the 18-month suspended sentence for Dr. Heraklis Pantelidakis, regarding the death of 10-year-old Stavros Giorgallis in 2018. All appeals were dismissed, and the original decision was confirmed. The court ruled that the misdiagnosis of the X-ray led to the child's death, as the skull fracture was not detected. The lack of a neurosurgeon at the Larnaca hospital and the delay in transferring the child to the General Hospital of Nicosia were highlighted. The Appeal Court found an error in the initial decision to suspend the sentence but took into account the delay in the trial and the absence of fault on the part of the defendant.
