Greek-Turkish Relations, the Cyprus Problem and Illusions

The article analyzes the current state of Greek-Turkish relations and the Cyprus problem, highlighting the deterioration of the situation and the illusions held by some. The author argues that Turkey interprets Greece's policy of "calm waters" as submission to its demands, while in Cyprus, Ankara imposes its own agenda, ignoring efforts for a Bi-zonal, Bi-communal Federation. Furthermore, it is emphasized that Turkey is not willing to take steps in Cyprus, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman, simply repeats Ankara's positions. The visit of the Greek Prime Minister to Ankara did not yield substantial results, and the signed documents mainly concern secondary issues of cooperation.
