Published February 17, 2026, 12:30

The Audit Office has received a series of complaints regarding the Municipality of Paphos, concerning financial matters, staff recruitment, property management and the use of official vehicles. A research plan is expected to be drawn up to investigate the complaints. The Audit Office is examining the information and will decide which issues will be audited. So far, no team of auditors has been sent to the Municipality of Paphos. One of the complaints concerned staff recruitment, management of Turkish Cypriot properties and the use of an official vehicle by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, and was submitted by a Senior Officer of the Municipality in 2022. The Audit Office has already sent its findings to the Paphos District Administration and has responded to a request from the TAE Headquarters for documents substantiating the findings.
