Nearly Half of Deaths in Occupied Territories Due to Heart Disease

According to new statistics released in the occupied territories, cardiovascular diseases and cancer remain the leading causes of death. The figures show that nearly half of all deaths (46.4%) are due to heart problems, followed by neoplastic diseases and respiratory system illnesses. Specifically, out of the 1,745 deaths recorded in 2024, 891 were due to circulatory system diseases. This trend is long-standing, as during the period 2019-2024, 4,598 out of a total of 9,767 deaths were caused by the heart. In addition, there is a 10.6% increase in deaths from external causes, such as road accidents, which is a cause for concern.
