A non-governmental organization, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), announced that it has confirmed the deaths of nearly 6,000 people in Iran following protests that erupted at the beginning of the month and were suppressed. According to HRANA data, of the dead, 5,520 were protesters, 77 minors, 209 members of the security forces, and 42 bystanders. The organization is investigating an additional 17,091 potential deaths. The death toll is estimated to be much higher due to the internet shutdown imposed by the authorities, which complicates the verification process. In addition, at least 41,283 people have been arrested. Iranian authorities have reported a total death toll of 3,117, with the majority being members of the security forces or bystanders.
