Syria: Agreement with Damascus 'No Longer Valid'

An agreement for the integration of Kurdish political and military institutions into the Syrian state has collapsed, according to a Kurdish official, due to continued attacks by the Damascus regime and its refusal to engage in dialogue. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were forced to withdraw forces from the al-Hol camp, home to families of ISIS fighters, to defend their territories. Al-Hol houses approximately 24,000 people, including Syrians and foreign nationals, while the Syrian Ministry of Defense stated it is prepared to take responsibility for the camp. Negotiations between the Kurds and Damascus have 'completely collapsed,' with the Kurdish administration considering aid from Israel. Simultaneously, the US-led coalition is in talks to hand over the al-Hol camp to Syrian authorities.
