Livestock Farmers in South Nicosia Coordinate on Foot-and-Mouth Disease - Disinfection Points

Livestock farmers in the Municipality of South Nicosia-Idalion are taking coordinated action to address cases of foot-and-mouth disease. The goal is to strengthen coordination and organization to limit the spread of the disease and protect livestock farming. Farmers are urged to strictly adhere to biosecurity measures and to immediately inform the Veterinary Services of any suspected symptoms. As a first step, it was decided to install 10 vehicle spraying and disinfection points, with the cost to be covered proportionally by the farmers. The Municipality will place warning signs. Farmers will continue to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the coordination team will serve as a communication channel. The Mayor of Idalion calls for immediate and collective action, asking farmers to carry out thorough spraying and to limit movements to and from the green line. Early reporting of suspected cases is critical to protecting the industry.
