Cyprus Police Continue Sweeping Checks, Arrests Made and Hundreds of Drivers Checked

Police in Cyprus continue targeted preventive operations across the island, with an increased presence in key urban areas, aiming to prevent serious criminal activity, protect citizens, and maintain public order. During the past night, seven individuals were arrested for various offenses, including drug possession, electronic devices of unknown origin, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Specifically, three people were arrested for drug possession in Nicosia and Paphos, while two more were arrested in Paphos for possessing electronic devices without being able to justify their origin. Additionally, a 36-year-old was arrested on a court warrant for a case of threats and illegal possession of an offensive weapon, and a 34-year-old in Nicosia for possessing two knives. The checks included over 450 vehicles and 600 people, as well as 38 premises inspections. 129 traffic violations were recorded and ten vehicles were impounded.
