President Meets with U.S. Senators: "Cyprus and the U.S. Share Common Interests and Challenges"

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with a group of members of the U.S. Congress at the Presidential Palace today. The meeting highlighted the mutual desire to further strengthen Cyprus-U.S. relations in areas such as defense, security, and political dialogue. President Christodoulides expressed satisfaction with the recently launched strategic dialogue between the two countries. The President referred to his recent tour of various U.S. states, aimed at attracting investment, expressing satisfaction with the results. He plans another visit to the U.S. and other destinations within the country. The meeting also discussed regional geopolitical developments, as Cyprus and the U.S. share common interests and challenges. The importance of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council for bringing the U.S. closer to the EU was emphasized, as transatlantic ties are considered very important. U.S. officials recognized the President’s role in strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted the importance of Cyprus as an ally and friend for U.S. national security and economy. They also acknowledged Cyprus’ leadership within the EU and its role in connecting West and East.
