Neophytou Seeks Meeting with President to Discuss Cyprus Developments

Former President of the Democratic Rally, Averof Neophytou, has sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, requesting a meeting to inform him of conclusions drawn from recent contacts regarding the Cyprus issue. Mr. Neophytou has returned from trips to the United States and Greece and wishes to share his assessments with the President, given the critical phase of the United Nations initiatives for Cyprus. In his letter, Mr. Neophytou emphasizes the need for coordination and responsible attitude from all parties, as well as the obligation of those who can contribute to finding a solution to do so in a spirit of unity and sincerity. This initiative comes at a time when the negotiation process is at a standstill and the need to revitalize efforts is imperative. Mr. Neophytou recognizes the importance of the reunification of Cyprus as a key goal and expresses the hope that the meeting with President Christodoulides will contribute to finding common ground and promoting a sustainable solution. The meeting is expected to focus on the prospects for resuming negotiations and the possible parameters of a new approach. The move by Mr. Neophytou indicates his desire to remain active in the effort to resolve the Cyprus issue, despite his departure from the leadership of the Democratic Rally. The meeting with the President is expected to provide an opportunity for exchanging views and coordinating efforts to promote a solution that respects the rights and interests of all Cypriots.
