UN Representative Meets with Cypriot Party Leaders to Discuss Cyprus Issue

A meeting took place at the Ledra Palace between representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot parties and UN Special Representative Khassim Diagne. The discussion focused on the current state of the Cyprus issue. Mr. Diagne informed the parties about recent developments in the peacekeeping mission in the buffer zone, emphasizing the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding actions that could undermine the status quo. He reiterated the United Nations' commitment to supporting a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem, in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions. The next meeting is scheduled for March 26, 2026, hosted by the New Cyprus Party. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy in Nicosia, as part of an inter-communal initiative.
